I’m seeking insights or precedent cases on how best to value a proprietary document library developed over the course of multiple federal contracts.
Here’s the background:
The library consists of over structured deliverables, including Facility Condition Assessments, Infrastructure Capacity Analyses, Installation Development Plans, District Plans, utility studies, and more.
These documents directly supported the execution of approximately $26 million in federal contract awards, with a focus on Department of Defense clients.
All materials were developed in-house under previous contract vehicles and are organized using consistent naming conventions and formatting, making them highly reusable for future projects, proposal development, and program support.
We’re currently evaluating the standalone value of this asset as part of a strategic transaction, but I’d greatly appreciate any of the following:
Examples of similar knowledge capital / IP library valuations in the AEC or GovCon space
Guidance on applying EBITDA multiples or contribution modeling for partial asset sales
Lessons learned from buyers or sellers who’ve packaged documentation libraries in acquisitions
Any red flags or structuring recommendations when transferring non-classified, contract-derived documents
