The Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions, and Alliances is proud to announce that we have been approved by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as an official Recertification Provider. The SHRM provides the leading certification for human resource professionals, and we are excited to be included as an approved recertification provider for their network of HR experts.
As HR plays a critical role in the overall success or failure of transactions, it is essential for HR professionals working within M&A to prepare themselves and their team. Challenges faced by human resources during a deal include maintaining the status quo while implementing change, providing management with guidance from a “people” perspective, communicating with employees at every step during the transaction process, integrating separate organizations effectively and efficiently, aligning the HR function to the organizational objectives, and other HR related areas. These area challenges that are addressed by M&A certification programs.
In addition to the strategic components of IMAA’s programs which align with the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge Checklist (BoCK) the following aspects are covered as well: leadership and navigation, ethical practice, communication, global and cultural effectiveness, relationship management, consultation, and business acumen. Other areas of HR expertise covered within IMAA’s programs include HR strategic planning, total rewards, structure of the HR function, and HR in the global context.
All three of IMAA’s M&A certification programs have been approved to receive SHRM’s professional development credits (PDCs) for recertification: the International Mergers & Acquisitions Expert (IM&A), Mergers & Acquisitions Professional (M&AP), and the Certified Post Merger Integration Specialist (CPMI). Both our onsite and online program formats are included, and credit information will be given to the participants once they apply for their PDCs with the SHRM.
