    Hi everyone,

I’m looking for insights on how to better support leaders in overcoming internal politics and territorial frictions. We all know how easily teams can fall into silos, but I’m trying to find effective ways to shift their focus toward active cross-team collaboration and driving overall organizational synergy.

Territorial behavior is unavoidable and exists at every level of an organization. It is not limited to frontline employees; it can be just as prevalent among executives protecting budgets, resources, influence, or legacy processes. The most effective way to overcome it is to align leaders around shared objectives rather than functional objectives. When performance metrics, incentives, and accountability are tied to enterprise-wide outcomes, leaders are more likely to collaborate across organizational boundaries. Clear governance, transparent communication, and cross-functional integration teams also help break down silos. Ultimately, people tend to support what they help create, so involving leaders in defining the integration strategy often generates greater commitment to achieving synergies than simply directing them to do so.

I 100% agree with Lourdes. Help leaders move past territory lines by aligning them around shared synergy goals, not individual function ownership. Set common success metrics, create cross-functional workstreams, clarify decision rights, and reinforce that the goal is combined business value, not protecting “my team” or “my area
